While creating Muladhara I was unsure of its true meaning and purpose for creation. In its self Muladhara, stands as a compilation of three interrelated concepts I had been contemplating over the past months. The first of which is the idea of the human life, as in being physically alive or deceased, visually represented by the Skeleton. The second being Human civilization, modern inventions and the permanence of their impact. We as people always feel the need to “contaminate” or ”leave our mark” in an environment as a way to prove or existence/ presence in space, represented by the Cotton Underwear. Lastly, the human spirit, as in the energy of self . I chose to represent this by incorporating the root chakra also known as Muladhara. I chose this chakra because of its location at the base of the spine. This chakra controls a persons saftey, survival, basic human needs, physical identity, and ability to feel grounded.
